GC Thermal Solutions supplied us with a Convotherm Combi Oven and MerryChef E2 Oven at our New Company Owned Day Today Store in Armadale. Coming back into convenience retailing, I knew that Food to Go had to have a presence as there has been a shift from traditional retailing to food on the go over the past 2-3 years. Shopping around the 'usual' shop fitters, they didn't specialise in food operations and I knew if I was going to make a success of this, it couldn't be done half-heartedly, meaning the whole process, menu and most importantly equipment had to be correct. GC Thermal Solutions from start to finish guided us through the process and explained in great detail anything that we were not sure of or if we wanted more information about a certain product. We were invited to visit Moffat factory in Bonnybridge where they make the equipment and we were able to see the product before purchase. We were also invited to a meeting at the Chris Hoy Stadium where Paul Burrows, Welbilt trained chef, showed us how to use the MerryChef and Convotherm Combi oven, another piece of equipment we were able to see before we purchased. Craigs previous knowledge of restaurant and supply chain operations was exactly what we were looking for. He understood what equipment we needed to work in a fast paced environment and helped us understand the process better. Since our refit, our food sales have doubled. A part of this is due to how much food we can cook and how quickly we can get the food to the customer. Our average spend on food has increased by £4 due to increased footfall, a bigger menu and being on Just Eat. If it was not for the equipment that GC Thermal provided we would have never been able to keep up with the demand as it has accelerated our cooking time and decreased out service time which allows us to serve more customers and quicker.
